	There are records of this shaggy little oriental dog as far back as Marco Polo. They have been referred to as “Lion Dogs” in their native China, receiving the name because of their long, flowing mane-like-coat. Shih Tzus were the favored dog of the Emperor and are portrayed in Chinese paintings. Shih Tzus are sturdy, lively, toy dogs with a long flowing double coat. They have a distinctively arrogant carriage with the head held up and the tail curved over the back. They may display an arrogant personality, but are actually playful and gentle. They adapt well to any family situation and will enjoy a cuddle in your lap. Despite their small size, Shih Tzus are a confident and dignified breed. Average weight is 10 - 15 lbs; height 8 – 11 inches; color: all colors.
